I collaborate with students and community members to create community-based writing projects. These projects include personal narrative books, an interview series with Durham community activists, program assessments, summer reading projects, and community storytelling.
Collaborators include
- Forest View Elementary
- George Watts Elementary
- Lakewood Montessori Middle
- The Pauli Murray Project
- The Quality of Life Project
- St. Titus Episcopal Church
My latest partnership is the Duke-Durham Writes Studio, which brings public school teachers, principals, and media center directors together with university students and faculty to explore long-term writing-based projects such as
- embedded Writing Studios
- multi-day writing workshops
- community writing retreats
- personal narrative anthologies
I also lead writing and digital storytelling workshops for teachers and students in Durham Public Schools.
